Farrell Enjoys Knoxville Debut Flyan Ryan Farrell has come off a big week in Sprintcars, first up at Knoxville Raceway he qualified 4th in a club show prior to the nationals, finished 4th in his heat and finished 14th in his first even run at the big tack. His comments were short after his debut at Knoxville but memorable, "Shit this joint is awesome, can't wait to run more" The next run for Ryan was at oskaloosa where the only thing winning at the start of the night was the weather, but they persisted and finally got under way around 10pm local time, Ryan didn't qualify very well and also had a shocker of a heat race just trying to get used to their starting system but that was all forgotten in the final where he started out of 20th position on the grid to finish in 4th a position, Bloody awesome is all he could say after the race as he accepted the hard charger award from the promoters. Next up was the 47th running of the Knoxville Nationals, he was due to time trial on the Wednesday night but again the weather won out on that one, so he was next on the track Friday night where he qualified 31st out of 65 cars, had a bad heat finish after he had already got up to 4th position, missed the restart on the back straight and finished 7th. This gave him a #2 start in the D Main and he blew that race wide open and came in for the win transferring to the C Main. That was a very long race with many yellow light but unfortunately every time he got a run going the lights would come on again, he finally had a go around the outside of a few car and tagged the wall bending the axle which gave the car a very bad vibration. That was the end of his first ever Knoxville Nationals quest, but he did say the car owners are happy and would like him back next year. This week he is off to Kansas City followed by the following weekend back at Knoxville Raceway for the final club shows. One thing Ryan & John Farrell would like to say is a big hearty thanks to Peter Morris of Maxwill Engines, Ryan has been using Aussie horsepower there for his trip and cant believe the power of this engine, keeps up with the best of them he said. |
